The big awards of the night went to Palow Tha Don, who took home Songwriter of the Year for his work with Black Eyed Peas star Fergie and Ludacris, and Oklahoma rockers Hinder - who earned Song of the Year for 2006's Lips of an Angel.

The ceremony also saw stars including Fall Out Boy's Patrick Stump and Babyface pay tribute to legendary pop due Hall & Oates - who were named BMI icons.

Both Stump and singer/producer Babyface performed classic tracks by the band and praised them for their contribution to the music industry.
