The Cure To Release Four Singles, 13th Album

After several postponements, the Cure has announced a Sept. 13 street date for its still-untitled 13th studio album and plans to release four singles -- one per month -- starting May 13 in anticipation, according to a post on the band’s Web site. The four singles, all of which will arrive on the 13th day of each month, will be available in physical and digital formats.

May's entry is “The Only One” backed by non-album B-side “NY Trip,” to be followed by “Freakshow”/"All Kinds Of Stuff” on June 13. Details of the final two singles have not yet been made available.
The new album, arriving via Suretone/Geffen, was originally due in early 2007 and then postponed twice, to fall 2007 and spring 2008.

It will be the group’s first studio offering since its self-titled 2004 effort.
Bandleader Robert Smith told Billboard.com last July that the planned double-disc set would include “songs about relationships, the material world, politics and religion. They're very upfront and dynamic. People will be surprised how stripped-down and in-your-face the record is."

The Cure launches its long-awaited U.S. tour on May 9 at Washington, D.C.’s Patriot Center. Originally slated for last fall, the 26-date trek will wrap June 21 at New York’s Radio City Music Hall.
